  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure it’s melted but not too hot.
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs Add one at a time.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Can use different types for variety.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.
  • Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or on its own. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. Refrigerate for up to a week. You can freeze them for up to three months.
