Ingredients
  

For the casserole

  • 4 medium medium potatoes, sliced Make sure to slice thinly for even cooking.
  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or vegetarian alternative for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Feel free to use different types of cheese.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste Optional seasonings can include garlic powder, paprika, or others.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion over medium heat; season with salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.

Assembly and Baking

  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the cooked beef mixture, and half of the cheese.
  • Repeat the layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  • Pour the soup mixture over the entire casserole.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot pairs well with a simple side salad or steamed vegetables. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
