  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Option to omit if less sweetness is desired.

Baking Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  • Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  • Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in.
  • Add the flour and mix until just incorporated.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

This bread is wonderful served warm or at room temperature. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap to store, good for up to 3 days at room temperature, 1 week in the fridge, or 3 months in the freezer.
